CVE-2026-53131 is an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in Linux kernel Netfilter packet-processing paths that use eth_hdr(skb). The ip6t_eui64 and xt_mac modules, the bitmap:ip,mac, hash:ip,mac, and hash:mac ipset types, and nf_log_syslog could access an Ethernet header after only assuming an Ethernet-associated socket buffer or performing inadequate MAC-header bounds validation. The fix requires verification that the socket buffer is associated with an Ethernet device, has a MAC header set, and that the MAC header spans a complete Ethernet header before eth_hdr(skb) is accessed.
