CVE-2026-53224 is an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the Linux kernel SCTP implementation's COOKIE_ECHO cookie parsing. The SCTP cookie unpacking path did not verify that an embedded INIT chunk was large enough to contain a complete INIT header, and did not completely validate the combined embedded-INIT and raw address-list lengths against the remaining cookie payload. Subsequent INIT and address-parameter parsing could therefore access data beyond the cookie boundary. Address-list parsing also lacked adequate checks that parameter headers and payloads were fully present before they were processed.
