CVE-2026-53246 is an SCTP input-validation vulnerability in the Linux kernel's COOKIE_ECHO processing. A listening SCTP endpoint accepts a cached peer INIT chunk embedded after the state cookie and subsequently passes its parameters to SCTP initialization processing. The cached INIT chunk's declared length was not validated against the remaining COOKIE_ECHO payload before parameter walking. An inflated chunk length can cause parsing beyond the received buffer, producing out-of-bounds reads and potentially causing memory corruption in subsequent parameter handling and copying operations.
