CVE-2026-5367 is an out-of-bounds read / heap over-read vulnerability in OVN (Open Virtual Network), specifically in ovn-controller's DHCPv6 processing path in the userspace pinctrl thread. When handling a DHCPv6 SOLICIT message and constructing a DHCPv6 ADVERTISE reply, the vulnerable code echoes the Client ID option back to the requester using the option length declared in the attacker-controlled DHCPv6 option header without validating that the declared length fits within the actual received packet bounds. As described in the supporting content, the vulnerable copy operation used attacker-influenced length data when copying the Client ID option, allowing a crafted SOLICIT packet with an inflated Client ID length to make ovn-controller read past the end of the packet buffer and copy adjacent heap memory into the reply. The issue affects OVN deployments where DHCPv6 options are configured on logical switch ports, making the DHCPv6 server code path reachable from attached workloads or tenant VMs.
