CVE-2026-54516 is a property-binding vulnerability in Jackson-databind that permits deserialization into a private backing field despite an @JsonIgnore annotation on its setter. When the corresponding getter is renamed using @JsonProperty, POJOPropertiesCollector._renameProperties() renames the property rather than dropping it. With MapperFeature.INFER_PROPERTY_MUTATORS enabled, as it is by default, the backing field remains available. BeanDeserializerFactory.addBeanProps() then detects hasField()==true and constructs a writable FieldProperty. Attacker-controlled JSON using the renamed property can consequently modify the field directly. The affected 2.21 release range begins at 2.21.0; fixes are available in 2.21.4 and 3.1.4.

A Jackson jackson-databind deserialization flaw allows attacker-supplied JSON to modify a private backing field despite @JsonIgnore on its setter. It occurs when the getter has @JsonProperty("renamed") and INFER_PROPERTY_MUTATORS is enabled, as it is by default. The plugin rates the vulnerability Medium, with CVSS v3 5.3, reflecting an unauthenticated network-accessible integrity impact. Updates are available in versions 2.21.4 and 3.1.4.
