CVE-2026-54689 is a server-side request forgery vulnerability in the mcp-searxng web_url_read feature that persists even when hardened mode is enabled. The flaw allows hardened-mode protections to be bypassed through redirect chains, use of 0.0.0.0, and canonicalized IPv4-mapped IPv6 literals, resulting in insufficient validation of destination addresses. The vulnerable logic fails to consistently re-validate each redirect hop and does not fully block special-purpose or internal address representations, enabling requests intended for external resources to be redirected or encoded toward loopback or internal network targets.
