CVE-2026-55629 is a path-traversal/arbitrary local file-read vulnerability in Whistle versions prior to 2.10.3. The temporary-file retrieval handler accepts a user-controlled filename parameter. Its validation logic fails open: inputs that do not match the expected temporary-file naming pattern can be passed directly to file-reading logic rather than being constrained to the temporary-file directory. Whistle 2.10.3 replaces the boolean validation flow with extraction and validation of an expected 64-character temporary-file hash before constructing the file path.

An arbitrary local file-read vulnerability in Whistle's temporary-file retrieval handling. A fail-open validation flow allowed malformed filename query parameters to be passed as raw local filesystem paths. The remediation restricts file access to validated, hash-based temporary-file names and adds authorization to session routing.
A high-severity path traversal/arbitrary file-read vulnerability in the Whistle HTTP, HTTP2, HTTPS, and WebSocket debugging proxy. Unauthenticated remote attackers can supply a filename to the /cgi-bin/temp/get endpoint and read arbitrary files, including /etc/passwd, in versions before 2.10.3.
A path traversal vulnerability in Whistle prior to version 2.10.3 that allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via the /cgi-bin/temp/get endpoint.
