CVE-2026-55892 is a stack-based out-of-bounds write in Vim versions prior to 9.2.0662. The spell-processing function dump_prefixes() traverses a spell-file prefix trie using a depth counter but does not validate that depth against the bounds of fixed-size stack arrays used to retain traversal state. A malicious Vim spell file can force traversal beyond MAXWLEN, causing writes past the stack arrays, corruption of the call frame, and an editor crash.
