CVE-2026-55971 is a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the C++ bindings of Apache Thrift. The flaw is in THeaderTransport::untransform() during ZLIB-related processing and results in an out-of-bounds write on the heap. Apache Thrift versions prior to 0.24.0 are affected. Because the vulnerable code operates on transformed header transport data, a malformed or attacker-controlled input reaching this code path can corrupt heap memory and destabilize the process.
