CVE-2026-55990 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in NLnet Labs Unbound 1.7.0 through 1.25.1 when built with DNSCrypt support. A DNSCrypt configuration containing more provider-certificate entries than corresponding secret-key entries causes Unbound to initialize only the matched entries while subsequently iterating according to the certificate-entry count. Uninitialized trailing slots retain allocator fill data and may be treated as valid DNSCrypt configuration objects. A crafted DNSCrypt UDP packet can select such an invalid slot, causing a garbage-pointer dereference and termination of the Unbound server.
