CVE-2026-56865 is an insufficient authenticity-verification flaw in Go module checksum-database validation. A malicious GOPROXY could forge up to two checksum-database transparency-log tiles because not all tiles were validated against their parent tiles. This allowed attacker-controlled module content to pass GOSUMDB validation and remain in the local Go module cache, even though subsequent transparency-log evaluation could not identify the malicious content. The fix verifies every tile against its parent.
