SSRF hostname resolution bypass in praisonaiagents

CVE-2026-57126 is a server-side request forgery vulnerability in praisonaiagents caused by incomplete SSRF validation logic. The protection checks only literal IP address encodings and does not resolve and validate DNS hostnames before issuing outbound requests. As a result, an attacker can supply a hostname that resolves to a prohibited destination such as loopback, private, link-local, or cloud metadata address space and bypass the intended network restrictions. The issue affects URL-fetching functionality including scrape_page, crawl, extract_links, extract_text, and URL mention fetching paths. Proper remediation requires resolving hostnames, validating every resolved address against blocked ranges, and pinning the connection to the validated address to prevent DNS rebinding.

Successful exploitation allows an attacker to induce the vulnerable server to make requests to internal network resources that should not be reachable through the application. This can expose internal services, loopback-only endpoints, link-local resources, and cloud instance metadata services. Responses from those requests may be surfaced into model context, creating a path for disclosure of sensitive internal data and environment metadata.

Mitigation

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.

If upgrading is not immediately possible, disable or tightly restrict the affected URL-fetching capabilities, including scrape_page, crawl, extract_links, extract_text, and URL mention fetching. Enforce outbound egress filtering to deny access to loopback, RFC1918 private ranges, link-local space, and cloud metadata endpoints. Where feasible, implement hostname resolution with destination IP validation and connection pinning as a compensating control.

Remediation

Patch, then assume compromise.

Upgrade praisonaiagents to version 1.6.59 or later. The fix should resolve hostnames using system name resolution, apply blocked-address checks to every returned address before any fetch occurs, and pin the outbound connection to the validated address to prevent DNS rebinding. Equivalent validation must be enforced consistently across both spider_tools and mentions-based fetch paths.
