CVE-2026-58467 affects Cockpit CMS before release 364. The vulnerability is caused by unvalidated PATH_INFO derived from REQUEST_URI being used to construct filesystem paths without containment checks. An unauthenticated remote attacker can supply dot-dot traversal sequences in the URL to escape the intended spaces directory and access arbitrary local files. In cases where the resolved path ends with a .php extension, the application passes the path to include(), creating a local file inclusion condition that can result in execution of local PHP files. The issue is remotely exploitable and is particularly relevant on deployments using the PHP built-in server or certain non-default Nginx configurations.
