CVE-2026-59857 is an off-by-one out-of-bounds write in Vim versions prior to 9.2.0725. In the single-byte branch of the spell_soundfold_sal() function, SAL sound-folding output is written to a caller-owned buffer using a length guard that permits the result length to reach MAXWLEN. The subsequent NUL termination then writes one byte beyond the end of the MAXWLEN-element stack buffer. Processing a boundary-length word through soundfold(), or through sound-based spell suggestions, can corrupt the eval_soundfold() stack frame.
