CVE-2026-59858 is an arbitrary Ex-command injection vulnerability in Vim before version 9.2.0735. The C omni-completion script, located in runtime/autoload/ccomplete.vim, interpolates the typeref: or typename: extension field from a tags entry into a :vimgrep pattern executed through :execute without escaping. A crafted tag field containing a bar can terminate the intended search pattern and append an attacker-controlled Ex command. When a user opens a hostile C project whose tags file contains the crafted entry and invokes C omni-completion, Vim executes the appended command with the privileges of the editing user.
