CVE-2026-59886 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in pyasn1 affecting versions prior to 0.6.4. The flaw is in the univ.Real type's conversion of ASN.1 REAL values into Python float values. When a BER, CER, or DER encoded REAL value is decoded, pyasn1 may later convert its mantissa, base, and exponent using exact big-integer exponentiation. An attacker can supply a very small encoded REAL object containing an extremely large exponent, causing operations such as prettyPrint(), str(), comparison, arithmetic, int(), or an explicit float() conversion to consume excessive CPU and memory. Applications that decode untrusted ASN.1 data and subsequently render, log, compare, or otherwise coerce decoded REAL objects can hang or become unresponsive.
