CVE-2026-59891 is a credential selection flaw in sigstore-js affecting versions prior to 0.7.1. The vulnerable logic is in getRegistryCredentials(), which reads registry authentication data from the local Docker configuration and selects an auth entry by testing whether a configured auth key contains the target registry string. Because the lookup uses substring matching instead of exact canonical host matching, credentials intended for one registry can be incorrectly associated with a different registry whose hostname shares a substring relationship. As a result, sigstore-js may transmit Docker registry credentials to the wrong OCI registry during registry interactions.
