CVE-2026-62426 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in Xen's sysctl management path. Xen uses sysctl operations for privileged system management by the control domain or a possible Xenstore domain, and some of these operations are protected by a system-wide lock because they must not execute in parallel. The vulnerability arises because the sysctl lock acquisition mechanism does not provide fairness, allowing lock starvation or prolonged contention. In configurations using XSM/Flask, some affected operations may acquire the lock before permission checks are performed, which can let a less privileged entity interfere with access to the lock even before authorization is evaluated.
