CVE-2026-6253 is a proxy credential disclosure vulnerability affecting curl and libcurl versions 7.14.1 through 8.19.0 inclusive. When different proxies are configured for different URL schemes, following a redirect from a scheme using an authenticated proxy to a scheme using a different, unauthenticated proxy can cause curl to forward the first proxy's credentials to the second proxy. The leaked credentials are transmitted in base64-encoded form. The vulnerability affects both the curl command-line tool and libcurl and is fixed in version 8.20.0.
