CVE-2026-62948 is a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in OpenWrt affecting versions prior to 25.12.5. The flaw originates in odhcpd, which writes the DHCPv6 client FQDN option 39 hostname into the lease state file without escaping in statefiles_write_state6() and statefiles_write_state4(). Because newline characters are not sanitized, an attacker can inject forged lease lines into the lease data. LuCI, via rpcd-mod-luci getDHCPLeases and the DHCP lease display logic in the administrative interface, subsequently renders this attacker-controlled lease content as live HTML in the Active DHCPv6 Leases page. The issue therefore combines improper output neutralization for logs or state data with unsafe HTML rendering, enabling persistent script injection in the router administration interface.
