CVE-2026-6299 is a critical use-after-free vulnerability in the Prerender component of Google Chrome prior to version 147.0.7727.101. The flaw is a lifetime-management error in the prerender cancellation path involving destruction of a prerendered new-tab WebContents while other code is still iterating over a snapshot of live WebContents pointers. Specifically, cancellation triggered through browsing-data removal can synchronously destroy the prerendered object, leaving a dangling raw pointer that may later be dereferenced. A remote attacker can exploit this memory corruption condition by causing the browser to process a crafted HTML page that triggers prerendering and the vulnerable cancellation sequence. Successful exploitation can result in arbitrary code execution in the browser context.
