CVE-2026-6309 is a high-severity use-after-free vulnerability in the Viz component of Google Chrome affecting versions prior to 147.0.7727.101. The flaw arises from improper object lifetime management that can leave a dangling pointer after memory has been freed in the Viz compositor. Under exploit conditions, a remote attacker who has already achieved code execution in a compromised renderer process can trigger the bug via crafted HTML content and potentially cross the renderer-to-browser security boundary by escaping Chrome’s sandbox. Viz operates as a more privileged compositing process within Chromium, so memory corruption in this component can enable execution flow control outside the original renderer sandbox.
