CVE-2026-6310 is a high-severity use-after-free vulnerability in Dawn, Chromium’s WebGPU implementation, affecting Google Chrome versions prior to 147.0.7727.101. The flaw is caused by improper lifetime management of GPU-related resources, allowing freed objects to remain reachable through stale references and creating a dangling-pointer condition. In the documented attack scenario, an attacker who has already achieved code execution in a compromised renderer process can trigger the bug via a crafted HTML page that exercises WebGPU functionality and sends crafted commands to Dawn. Successful exploitation can corrupt memory in the less-restricted GPU process and cross a core Chrome security boundary, resulting in a potential sandbox escape.
