CVE-2026-63388 is a heap-based out-of-bounds write in Libevent versions earlier than 2.1.13 and versions from 2.2.0-alpha before 2.2.2-alpha. In the buffered-socket AF_UNIX connection-address handling path, bufferevent_socket_set_conn_address_ copies a kernel-supplied peer sockaddr into the substantially smaller bufferevent_private.conn_address field. Release builds compiled with NDEBUG disable the assertion intended to guard the copy length. The evhttp accept path can therefore supply an AF_UNIX sockaddr of up to 110 bytes to a 28-byte destination, overwriting adjacent heap contents, including an adjacent dns_request pointer.
