CVE-2026-64029 is a race-condition-driven use-after-free in the Linux kernel ALSA sequencer Universal MIDI Packet (UMP) client output path. The event-processing path can obtain the client output rawmidi file without synchronization while a concurrent final output close releases that file and frees its rawmidi substream runtime. An in-flight rawmidi kernel write can subsequently dereference the freed runtime. KASAN reproduced the condition as a slab use-after-free in the rawmidi write path. The fix adds an IRQ-safe per-client read/write lock: event processing holds the read lock from output-file lookup through completion of the rawmidi write, while final close clears the visible output file under the write lock and releases the saved file only after dropping the lock.
