CVE-2026-64620 is a heap-based buffer overflow in FreeRDP before 3.28.0, affecting versions up to 3.27.1. The flaw is in crypto_rsa_common() in libfreerdp/crypto/crypto.c, where the modular-exponentiation result is written into the caller-supplied output buffer via BN_bn2bin() before the code verifies that the result length fits within the destination buffer. This results in out-of-bounds heap writes occurring prior to the bounds check. On the server side, the vulnerable path is reachable when a client negotiates RDP Standard Security and the encrypted client random is decrypted into a fixed 32-byte buffer. Because the server exposes its RSA public key, an unauthenticated remote attacker can craft a ciphertext whose decrypted value is as large as the RSA modulus length, such as 256 bytes with RSA-2048, causing an overflow of the 32-byte heap buffer by roughly 224 attacker-controlled bytes. The documented impact is pre-authentication remote denial of service.
