CVE-2026-66901 is a server-side request forgery and credential disclosure vulnerability in Google::Auth for Perl before version 0.09. The library accepted request endpoint URLs directly from credentials JSON and, in affected credential flows, failed to validate that those URLs resolved to an expected trusted host before issuing requests. As a result, applications that constructed credentials from untrusted or partially trusted JSON could be induced to send outbound requests to attacker-specified destinations from the application's network position.
Affected flows included external_account, authorized_user, impersonated_service_account, and service_account configurations. In the external_account flow, the library could fetch a subject token from a JSON-supplied credential source URL using attacker-influenced headers, post that token to a JSON-supplied token endpoint, and then forward the resulting access token to a JSON-supplied service account impersonation endpoint. In other affected flows, the library could send sensitive authentication material such as client secrets, refresh tokens, source access tokens, or signed JWT assertions to JSON-supplied token or impersonation endpoints. Partial validation changes were introduced in versions 0.06 through 0.08, but the complete fix was not present until 0.09, which added URL validation across the remaining affected credential class and enforced host validation against trusted domains or an application-pinned universe domain.
