CVE-2026-68343 is a Linux kernel SMB client vulnerability in DFS referral parsing. The flaw is in the handling of the PathConsumed field returned in a DFS referral response. While the referral parser validates the presence of the fixed referral entry array and, for certain referral formats, the per-referral string offsets, it did not adequately validate PathConsumed before storing and later using it during DFS path parsing. A malformed server response can supply a PathConsumed value larger than the length of the original search name, causing subsequent DFS parsing logic to advance past the end of the path buffer. The issue is resolved by validating PathConsumed against the search name length before accepting it into the parsed referral structure.
