CVE-2026-68480 is a Linux kernel x86 vulnerability in the Safe-RET mitigation on processors affected by Speculative Return Stack Overflow (SRSO). An attacker able to inject an interrupt while the Safe-RET sequence is executing can neutralize that sequence. The kernel fix restores register state as though Safe-RET completed and avoids executing a RET instruction when returning from the injected interrupt, preserving the intended speculation-control behavior.
