CVE-2026-68488 is a local privilege-escalation vulnerability in Plesk Backup Manager on Plesk Obsidian for Linux. A time-of-check/time-of-use race during restoration of customer subscription content permits insecure symbolic-link following. An authenticated customer can race replacement or manipulation of a path in their subscription so that an elevated Backup Manager restore operation changes ownership of a file or directory outside the assigned subscription boundary. Plesk for Linux 18.0.80.6 and earlier and 18.0.79.10 and earlier are affected; Plesk for Windows is unaffected.

A symlink race-condition privilege-escalation vulnerability in Plesk Backup Manager's subscription-content restore workflow. An authenticated low-privileged Plesk Panel user with FTP access to their own subscription could potentially manipulate paths during restoration, cause ownership changes outside their assigned subscription, and obtain root access on the underlying Linux server.
An authenticated local privilege-escalation vulnerability in Plesk Obsidian Backup Manager for Linux. A low-privileged Plesk Panel user with FTP access to their own subscription can exploit a symlink race during content restoration to cause ownership changes outside their assigned subscription, potentially leading to root-level compromise of the underlying server.
A TOCTOU race condition in Plesk that insecurely follows symlinks, enabling a local attacker to escalate privileges to root by taking over ownership of arbitrary files or directories.
