CVE-2026-68579 is a heap-based buffer overflow in FreeRDP before 3.30.0, affecting the Windows clipboard client implementation in CliprdrStream_Read within client/Windows/wf_cliprdr.c. The flaw occurs during clipboard file transfer handling when an OLE paste consumer invokes IStream::Read with a fixed-size destination buffer of cb bytes. The vulnerable code requests file contents from the remote RDP server and copies the returned data into the caller-provided buffer using the server-supplied length req_fsize rather than the actual destination buffer size cb. If a malicious or compromised RDP server returns an oversized file-contents response, the client performs an out-of-bounds write of attacker-controlled data into the heap buffer of the local paste consumer process. This is a remotely triggerable memory corruption issue exposed through clipboard file paste operations from the remote session to the Windows client.
