CVE-2026-71205 is a brute-force weakness in changedetection.io affecting the /login authentication route. The application verifies submitted credentials against a single PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 password hash but does not implement per-IP or per-session rate limiting, failed-attempt tracking, or lockout controls. Because the deployment model uses one shared application password rather than distinct per-user accounts, repeated online password-guessing attempts can be made against the sole administrative credential until successful. Successful authentication yields full access to the application administrative interface and associated privileged functionality, including access to API token management.
