CVE-2026-71944 is a critical OS command injection vulnerability in D-Link DWR-M961 routers, specifically hardware version C1 running firmware earlier than 1.1.5_C1_202607071108. The flaw is present in the web management interface endpoint /boafrm/formLtefotaUpgradeQuectel, where insufficient sanitization of the fota_url parameter allows attacker-controlled input to be interpreted as operating system commands. A remote attacker can exploit the vulnerability by supplying crafted input to that field, leading to arbitrary command execution on the device as the root user.
