CVE-2026-71955 is a critical OS command injection vulnerability in D-Link DWR-M961 routers, hardware version C1, affecting firmware versions prior to 1.1.5_C1_202607071108. The flaw resides in the web management interface at /boafrm/formWsc, where insufficient sanitization of user-supplied input allows shell metacharacters or command content to be injected through multiple parameters, including localPin, targetAPSsid, peerPin, and peerRptPin. Because the vulnerable interface processes attacker-controlled input in a way that reaches command execution on the underlying system, a remote attacker can trigger arbitrary command execution on the device. Available reporting indicates exploitation does not require authentication or user interaction and results in execution in the root security context.
