CVE-2026-73072 is a heap buffer overflow in Vim versions prior to 9.2.0846. The set_sofo() function reuses sl_sal_first[] without resetting values previously populated by set_sal_first(). Processing a crafted spell file containing an SN_SAL section before an SN_SOFO section consequently undercounts mapping lists, allowing attacker-influenced writes beyond a heap allocation. The vulnerability can allow arbitrary code execution and is fixed in Vim 9.2.0846.
