CVE-2026-73180 is an insufficient session expiration vulnerability in Apache Tomcat. When an authenticated HTTP session has its session identifier changed after a WebSocket connection has been established under that session, Tomcat may fail to close the associated authenticated WebSocket connection when the HTTP session ends. This violates Jakarta WebSocket session-lifecycle requirements and leaves a connection active after its parent authenticated HTTP session has terminated. Affected releases are Tomcat 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.24, 10.1.0-M1 through 10.1.57, and 9.0.0.M1 through 9.0.120. End-of-life 8.5.0 through 8.5.100 and 7.0.43 through 7.0.109 are also known to be affected.
