CVE-2026-73500 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in etcd, the distributed key-value store commonly used by distributed systems and Kubernetes control planes. In affected versions prior to 3.5.33, 3.6.14, and 3.7.1, an attacker that can reach an etcd TLS listener can establish large numbers of TCP connections and withhold the TLS ClientHello. In client/pkg/transport/listener_tls.go, each accepted connection processed by tlsListener.acceptLoop spawns a goroutine that can block indefinitely inside tls.Conn.Handshake() while the connection remains tracked in a pending map. Because these blocked handshakes are not effectively bounded, the process can accumulate unbounded goroutines and pending connection state, leading to memory exhaustion and service unavailability.
