CVE-2026-75926 is a vulnerability in the Hugo static site generator affecting versions 0.162.0 through before 0.165.0. Hugo 0.161.0 introduced use of the Node.js permission model to constrain Node-based asset pipelines so they could not access the file system outside the project directory. In Hugo 0.162.0, tailwindcss was added to the default child-process allowlist in the security configuration. As a result, when Hugo launches TailwindCSS, it appends the Node permission flag that allows child-process creation. TailwindCSS loads the site's Tailwind configuration through require at startup, causing top-level JavaScript in that configuration to execute inside the permitted Node process. Malicious code in the configuration can then invoke child_process to spawn a shell or other subprocess. Because the spawned subprocess is not itself constrained by the Node permission model, it executes with the full privileges of the account running the Hugo build. This defeats the confinement Hugo intended for Node asset pipelines and turns processing of attacker-supplied Tailwind configuration from restricted build-time execution into arbitrary command execution.

A specific vulnerability tracked as CVE-2026-75926 affecting Hugo packages on Ubuntu LTS and Debian 14 systems, referenced by an unpatched Nessus plugin entry.
A command execution vulnerability in Hugo caused by allowing tailwindcss to run with Node's --allow-child-process permission, enabling arbitrary command execution during site builds via malicious tailwind.config.js content supplied by a theme, module, or starter template.
