CVE-2026-76928 is a NULL pointer dereference in Wireshark's generated X.509IF protocol dissector, affecting the DN/RDN formatting logic. Nested DistinguishedName decoding can overwrite and clear file-static formatter state used by an outer RelativeDistinguishedName decoder. When nested decoding returns, the outer decoder dereferences the cleared string-buffer pointer, causing a deterministic crash. The issue affects Wireshark 4.6.0 through 4.6.7 and 4.4.0 through 4.4.18.
