CVE-2026-77393 is an incorrect default permissions vulnerability in Inductive Automation Ignition 8.1.53 and earlier. The Gateway "Create Project Role(s)" authorization setting shipped with a blank value. Although the access-control mechanism enforced any role configured in this setting, the blank default imposed no project-creation role requirement. Consequently, an authenticated user able to execute Gateway scripts could create projects without holding the intended Designer role. Ignition 8.1.54 corrects the issue by restricting project creation to Designer sessions and eliminating reliance on the affected setting. Ignition 8.3 releases are not affected.

An authorization flaw in Inductive Automation Ignition 8.1.53 and earlier. Because the Gateway "Create Project Role(s)" setting was blank by default, an authenticated user able to execute gateway scripts could create projects.
