CVE-2026-78938 is a high-severity type-confusion vulnerability in the V8 JavaScript and WebAssembly engine used by Google Chrome. Chrome versions earlier than 152.0.7977.65 inadequately handle type assumptions, enabling a remotely supplied crafted HTML page to trigger arbitrary code execution within the browser sandbox.

This five-file repository contains a JavaScript proof of concept and exploitation write-up for CVE-2026-78938, a V8 TurboFan LoadElimination type confusion associated with CheckMaps instance migration. It targets the vulnerable V8 15.2.124.13 / Chrome 152.0.7977.54 build and identifies the issue as fixed in V8 15.2.124.18 / Chrome 152.0.7977.64 and later. `pocs/crash.js` is a minimal standalone trigger that trains polymorphic object maps, deprecates one map by changing a field from Smi to Double representation, optimizes the victim function, and triggers migration. `pocs/rw_final.js` is the frozen, heap-layout-sensitive first stage: it uses a calibrated stale-Smi offset to corrupt the length of a nearby Float64Array, creating OOB access, then loads `pocs/logic_final.js`. The second stage dynamically locates pointer-bearing slots and the Float64Array backing-store address to establish addrof, fakeobj, and compressed-heap arbitrary read/write primitives. `README.md` provides execution requirements and limitations, while `WRITEUP.md` details the root cause, calibration constraints, and primitive construction. No remote network service, C2 infrastructure, hardcoded IP address, or web URL is present. The exploit is operational but stops short of sandbox escape or RCE.
