CVE-2026-79677 is a concurrency vulnerability in Apache Tomcat's handling of asynchronous WebSocket writes. A resource is not released after its effective lifetime and an incorrect comparison can cause write timeouts to be lost. Consequently, asynchronous WebSocket write operations may remain resource-consuming indefinitely, enabling denial of service. Affected versions are Tomcat 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.25, 10.1.0-M1 through 10.1.59, and 9.0.0-M1 through 9.0.121. Tomcat 8.5.0 through 8.5.100 and 7.0.43 through 7.0.109 are also known to be affected, although unsupported.
