OpenStack Keystone before 29.0.3 improperly permits tokens obtained through delegated authentication mechanisms—including OAuth1 access tokens, application credentials, and trusts—to be reauthenticated through the token-method authentication path. In the application-credential case, presenting a token without an explicit scope can cause Keystone to issue a replacement token scoped to the credential owner's default project rather than the project for which the application credential was issued. This breaks intended project-scope restrictions on delegated credentials.

An authentication-scope bypass in OpenStack Keystone before 29.0.3. Delegated-authentication tokens could be reauthenticated through the token-method path to obtain a token outside their intended project scope; notably, an unscoped application-credential token could yield a token for the credential owner's default project rather than its issued project.
