CVE-2026-81698 is an OS command injection vulnerability in openssl_encrypt versions before 1.4.9. The info command generates a reconstructed command-line block by interpolating metadata fields without shell-safe quoting. An attacker can embed shell metacharacters or commands in attacker-controlled metadata, such as the pepper name field. If a user copies and executes the displayed reconstructed command in a shell, the injected content is interpreted as shell syntax.
