CVE-2026-84502 is a critical argument-injection vulnerability in Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform automation-controller. The Project scm_url field accepts values beginning with a dash and passes them verbatim to the Git SCM module. That module invokes git ls-remote with the supplied URL as a positional argument but without a -- end-of-options separator. Git consequently interprets a crafted SCM URL as an option, including the upload-pack option, which can cause a supplied command to be executed through a shell. The flaw affects project synchronization and permits execution on the controller-task control-plane pod.

Git argument injection through Project scm_url permits remote code execution in Automation Controller.
An arbitrary command-execution flaw in Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform automation-controller. A user permitted to create or modify a project within one organization can supply a crafted scm_url that is parsed as a Git option, causing command execution on a control-plane task pod. The resulting output is exposed through the project-update stdout endpoint, enabling potential cross-tenant compromise and in-cluster lateral movement.
Critical argument-injection vulnerability in Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform automation-controller. A user permitted to create or modify a project in one organization can execute arbitrary commands on the controller-task control-plane pod, potentially enabling cross-tenant compromise and in-cluster lateral movement.
Critical argument-injection remote code execution flaw in Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform automation-controller and the underlying ansible-core git module. A low-privileged user able to create or modify a project within one organization can supply a dash-prefixed SCM URL that is interpreted as a git option, execute arbitrary commands in the controller task control-plane pod, and potentially compromise other tenants and move laterally within the cluster.
