CVE-2026-84661 is an authorization flaw in Jenkins Pipeline: Build Step Plugin 599.v4b_67ea_11b_152 and earlier. The waitForBuild Pipeline step does not enforce the downstream job's Item/Cancel permission when its propagateAbort parameter is enabled. Consequently, a downstream build can be canceled through abort propagation even when the authentication associated with the build is not authorized to cancel builds on that downstream job.

If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.
propagateAbort with waitForBuild where downstream cancellation must be restricted. Limit who can modify or execute affected Pipelines, and ensure job authorization boundaries prevent untrusted users from initiating builds that wait on sensitive downstream jobs.Patch, then assume compromise.
