CVE-2026-84961 is an improper certificate validation vulnerability in the undici HTTP client library's BalancedPool dispatcher. BalancedPool deep-clones its complete options object through JSON serialization and reparsing, which silently removes function-valued options before they reach the TLS layer. This can discard a caller-supplied checkServerIdentity callback or custom connector supplied through the connect option. A peer certificate that the application's custom validation was intended to reject can consequently be accepted when it passes Node.js default hostname and certificate-chain validation. Client, Pool, and Agent dispatchers are not affected because they extract connect and TLS options before cloning.
