CVE-2026-86140 is a stack-based buffer overflow in libxml2 versions before 2.15.4. The flaw is in xmlSnprintfElements in valid.c, where unsafe strcat-based concatenation can overflow a stack-resident buffer while handling XML elements. The resulting memory corruption can crash an affected application or potentially enable arbitrary code execution in the context of the application using libxml2.
