CVE-2026-86863 is an authentication-bypass vulnerability in pgAdmin 4 versions 6.2 through 9.17. When the webserver authentication source is enabled, WebserverAuthentication.get_user() can treat a client-controlled inbound HTTP header as the asserted remote-user identity. An unauthenticated requester can therefore name an arbitrary existing account, including an Administrator account, without supplying valid credentials. Header-derived values can also enter the WSGI environment when the configured remote-user variable uses an HTTP-prefixed or hyphenated header-derived name. pgAdmin 4 version 9.18 distinguishes genuine CGI/WSGI variables from header-derived values, gates header identity assertion behind explicit opt-in and trusted-proxy validation, and limits webserver authentication to accounts configured for that authentication source.
