CVE-2026-96659 is an authorization vulnerability in Foreman template preview endpoints that grants excessive access to authenticated users assigned the low-privilege Viewer role. Crafted preview requests can retrieve sensitive host attributes intended for higher-privileged administrators, including host root passwords. If template Safemode protections are disabled, exploitation may additionally permit arbitrary command execution as the Foreman system account. Command execution is also described as possible when Safemode is circumvented, but is not established for configurations with effective Safemode protections.

An authorization weakness in Red Hat Satellite's Foreman template preview endpoints allows a network-accessible, low-privileged authenticated attacker to disclose sensitive host information without user interaction. Command execution is additionally possible under unsafe Safemode configurations. Red Hat rated the flaw Important, with a CVSS v3 score of 9.1, and disclosed it on October 1, 2026.
A vulnerability in Foreman allows authenticated users with low-level Viewer permissions to access sensitive information, including host root passwords, through template preview endpoints. When Safemode protections are disabled, it may also permit arbitrary command execution as the Foreman system account.
A critical Foreman authorization flaw affecting template-preview endpoints. A Viewer-role user can disclose sensitive information; insecure deployments with Safemode disabled may enable command execution as the Foreman system account.
A Foreman authorization vulnerability gives the Viewer role excessive permissions on Preview. The advisory includes a security fix but does not detail the resulting access or exploitation prerequisites.
